The Alpen Apex 8.5x50 binocular is a super value! The 8.5x50 Apex binocular is a roof prism design, made for situations where available light is more limited. The 50-mm objective lenses of the 8.5x50 Alpen Apex binocular have an intrinsic light-gathering advantage of 142% over a conventional 42-mm binocular. Like all Alpen Apex binoculars, the 8.5x50 version is made with fully multi-coated BaK4 glass for bright, sharp images. The prisms of the Alpen Apex 8.5x50 binocular also have the PXA phase-coating for higher resolution and the HR metallic coating for better light throughput. The Alpen Apex 8.5x50 binocular has a minimum close focus of 16 feet, and a 290-foot field of view at 1000 yards. Alpen Apex 8.5x50 binoculars weigh just 28 oz., which is fairly remarkable given all that glass in the objective lenses. Eye relief on the 8.5x50 Alpen Apex binocular is 20 mm, more than adequate for those who wear glasses. The eyecups adjust with a twist-lock mechanism for those who don’t. Alpen Apex 8.5x50 binoculars are fully sealed and nitrogen-filled to be completely waterproof and internally fog-proof. All Apex binoculars are backed with Alpen’s lifetime warranty.
