Field of View
Blackhawk 10x42 Green Lens Mossy Oak Break-Up Binoculars
When looking through optics, you only see a narrow portion of the view you see with your eyes. Field of view is normally defined as how much horizontal view (in feet) you can see at a distance of 1000 yards. If you have a tape measure a 1000 yards away this is how much of it you could see. Full descriptive text along with how this will effect your view can be found in the Basics III article in the All About Optics section.
