Nikon Prostaff P3 8x42 Binoculars replace the Prostaff 3s 8x42. Their main improvement is the addition of silver alloy mirror coatings on the reflective face of the prisms to increase light transmission. New rubber armoring is more shock resistant and adds an ounce to the overall weight, which at 20.3 ounces is still very light for a 42mm roof prism binocular. Other than that, specs and features remain the same: Close focus is 9.8', field of view is 377' at 1000 yards, and eye relief is a huge 20.2mm. The body is nitrogen purged and waterproof to 3.3' for 10 minutes.
